Associate Director: Climate & Energy 


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Director to support our growth in providing advice in renewable project development, energy markets, regulation, policy design and climate change adaption.

What we are looking for:

  • 8-10+ years experience in clean energy, climate change or sustainability sectors

  • Demonstrated strategic business and advisory experience

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Commercial focus

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, values driven environment

  • Strong technical skills in climate change, economics, clean tech and utility transformation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy markets, regulation and policy reforms

  • Experience in working on renewable and other clean tech projects

  • Background in undertaking project and company level due diligence assessments

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent analytical skills in the energy and climate sectors

  • Demonstrated project management ability across multi-disciplinary consulting teams

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from business, government and industry

  • Prepared to undertake thought leadership activities to advance the standing of the business via published articles and seminar presentations

  • Self-motivated and outcomes focused, and able to identify and deliver commercial opportunities to our business pipeline

  • Tertiary qualifications at least to degree level in an appropriate discipline such as business or engineering (or equivalent relevant industry experience)

 Your Opportunity

We are looking for talented individuals who share our purpose of working with our clients to create high impact strategic advice, with a demonstrated background in renewable energy consulting and net zero strategy.  Our role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take responsibility for the delivery of critical advice that supports our clients and our vision.

 As a Climate and Energy Advisor you will be engaged in nationally significant projects, working on intellectually stimulating and challenging work using advanced methodologies and tools.

 As a member of our high-performing team, you will:-

  • Assist to develop and provide strategic advice to our clients in renewable project development, energy markets, regulation, policy design and climate change adaptation

  • Manage complex economic and statistical models to support high profile strategic decision making

  • Work collaboratively - developing and building trusted relationships internally within our team and externally with a broad range of clients

  • Assist in the development of policies, strategies, feasibility studies and business cases for clients

  • Contribute to sustaining our positive culture which is integral to the success of our team

  • Work to develop business opportunities to grow the success of Engevity

What we are looking for:

Whilst we are considering a broad range of skills, our ideal candidate for this role has 3-7 years experience and is currently working in the consulting space in renewable energy and/or net zero and climate change (not ESG alone), and be able to showcase your skills in these fields.  You are expected to bring strong quantitative and analytical skills with a commercial focus and the ability to work in a dynamic, values driven environment. In addition, you will need to be able to demonstrate most of the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Passionate about delivering innovative, lasting and sustainable solutions

  • Strong skills in climate/energy markets, economic regulation, policy reform, clean technology, grid connections, market viability and commercial business case assessment

  • Experience in working on renewable and other clean tech projects

  • Background in undertaking project and company level due diligence assessments

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent analytical skills in the energy and climate sector

  • Demonstrated project management ability across multi-disciplinary consulting teams
